Reminder for Corn Growers
Corn growers who intend to plant Bt corn for control of caterpillars (such as European corn borers), corn rootworms, or both should remember to include required non-Bt refuge acres in their plans. Despite all of the discussion recently about reduced refuge acres and "refuge in a bag," U.S. EPA regulations still require a 20% non-Bt corn refuge for insect resistance management (IRM). Compliance with these requirements will protect the durability of transgenic Bt corn technology.
