Update on Annual Survey for Second-Generation European Corn Borer

The annual fall survey for second-generation European corn borer is being completed across the state. Many reports during the summer indicated particularly heavy flights of adult moths and noticeable injury in cornfields. Survey results thus far would concur with those observations. In counties that have been completed, both infestation levels and the number of European corn borer larvae found in plants are higher than what we've seen in the past couple of years. Look for results of the entire survey in an upcoming issue of the Bulletin.--Kelly Cook
