When assessing corn stands, know how to distinguish between white grub species. And if you find a reduced stand and uncover annual white grubs easily, keep digging to be sure other subterranean pests are not at fault.

Unexpectedly good progress in corn planting was made this week, but wet, cool conditions continue to cause concern about emergence for both corn and, once it is planted, soybean. Wheat is late in heading but tiller numbers are reasonably good.
