Preliminary Root Evaluation Ratings for DeKalb, Monmouth, and Urbana Corn Rootworm Product Efficacy Trials
Producers are encouraged to be more vigilant in scouting efforts to evaluate Bt corn hybrid performance, and to not assume that Bt corn rootworm hybrids will always outperform soil insecticides in root protection. 
Soybean Aphids Continue to Cause Concern, Although Most Soybeans Are in "Safe" Stage of Development
Where soybean aphid numbers are nearing economic thresholds on stage 5 or 6 soybeans, be aware that an insecticide applicaction is not likely to pay for itself in yield benefit.

On average the Illinois corn crop will be good, but variability across the state will be higher than normal. Soybeans in dry areas of the state are suffering as much as corn, but rainfall in the next week could revive prospects to some extent.
