Keep scouting for those European corn borers! While working in research plots in Champaign, the IPM graduate students found third-instar corn borers feeding in the whorl. Remember, once the larvae begin boring into the midribs of leaves and stalks, rescue treatments are no longer an option. A list of rescue treatment options can be found in issue no. 11 (June 5, 2003) of the Bulletin).--Kelly Cook
